How to get Thailand on arrival visa (VOA)?
Once you arrive in Thailand at the port of any Thai border you have to submit your supporting documents and fees in front of the officer.
If you’re arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport, at the first step your passport will be checked, which must have at least two blank pages.
Second step, your documents will be checked at the “Document Checkpoint”. At that counter, you have to pay your visa fees. Then you’ll be allowed to enter a visa on arrival, where you have to submit your documents.
Third step: After submitting all the documents an officer will give you a number, and you have to wait until your application number announce. Once it’s announced you have got your Thailand tourist visa. After that, you just have to walk at the immigration checkpoint to present your visa and documents and you’re free to go.
Documents required for Thailand on arrival visa (VOA)
- Hold a genuine passport with a validity of more than 3 months.
- You must have a confirmed return ticket for exiting Thailand within 15 days (which has been extended to 30 days till 31st March 2023). Open tickets will not be qualified. Traveling overland by train, bus, etc. to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia (including the route to Singapore),
- Evidence of accommodation in Thailand. You must provide a confirmed, valid Thai address, such as the address of a hotel or apartment. You can provide your hotel reservation.
- During your stay in Thailand, you must show proof of at least 10,000 THB(Thai Bhat) for solo travelers and 20,000 THB for families.
- At the time of entry, pay 2,000 THB. This cost could change at any time without prior notification. The only Thai currency is accepted as payment in cash, which is required.

Can I Extend a Thailand Visa on Arrival?
No, a Thailand Visa On Arrival cannot be extended. You should apply for a regular Thailand tourist visa through a Thai diplomatic post in your country if you know you’ll need to remain for more than 15 days (which has been extended to 30 days till 31st March 2023).

You will be penalized if you stay over 15 days on Thailand VOA. Overstaying is punishable by fines that start at 500 Thai Baht per day and increase to 20,000 Thai Baht per day if you stay longer than 40 days.
You will also be banned from returning to Thailand for a specified amount of time, which can last anywhere between one and 10 years if your overstay exceeds 90 days.
