What is PCC ?

PCC full form is Police Clearance Certificate. It is issued to Indian Passport holders in case they have applied for Residential Status, Employment or Long term visa or for immigration. Police clearance application normally is submitted online.

Where you can submit your Police Clearance application ?

To apply for a police clearance certificate in India, you need to visit the Passport India web portal.

Type A: PCC Documents required for NON-ECR COUNTRIES:

  1. Original passport.
  2. Proof of Present Address (in case of change of address).

Type B: PCC Documents required for ECR Countries For Employment Purpose:

Documents Required for Skilled/Semi-Skilled Workers ECR Countries :

  1. Original passport.
  2. Photocopy of its first two and last two pages including.
  3. Proof of Present Address (in case of change of address).
  4. Self-attested copy of Employment Contract with foreign employer.
  5. Copy of Valid visa(In English).

Documents Required for Unskilled/Women Workers ECR Countries :

  1. Original passport.
  2. Photocopy of its first two and last two pages including.
  3. Proof of Present Address (in case of change of address).
  4. Employment contract from the foreign employer duly attested by the Indian Mission or Permission letter from the concerned Indian Mission/Post.
  5. Copy of Valid visa(In English).

Documents required for skilled/semi-skilled workers (Through Recruiting Agents**) ECR Countries:

  1. Original passport.
  2. Photocopy of its first two and last two pages including.
  3. Proof of Present Address (in case of change of address).
  4. Copies of Original Employment contract, demand letter and power of attorney from the foreign employer duly attested by the Recruiting Agent (RA).
  5. Copy of Valid registration certificate issued by the Protectorate of Emigrants, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Govt. of India.
  6. Names of licensed Recruitment Agents can be found at www.emigrate.gov.in.

A step by step guide to apply police clearance online in India.

Step 1: Create an account
You must register your details on Passport Seva Portal though this the official link to apply police clearance online.

Step 2. Check your email
After filling all your personal details you’ll get a link to activate your account for police clearance online.

Step 3: User log in
Log in Passport Seva Online portal with your registered user name and password.

Step 4: Apply for police clearance (PCC)
After successfully logged in click on ‘Apply for Police Clearance Certificate’ link.

Step 5: Fill the application form.
Once you click on apply for Police Clearance Certificate you’ll get an application form. Provide all the details such as your personal information, purpose of PCC, country which PCC is required, and etc.

All the red marks information are mandatory for PCC online.

Step 6: Pay the fee online
After submitting all the details, you will receive a reference number that you can track during processing. Then click the “Pay and Schedule Appointment” link under “View Saved/Submitted Applications“.

For PCC online, payment is mandatory for appointment booking in all PSK/POPSK/PO.

Step 7: Print the PCC application
Click on the ‘Print Application Confirmation’ link to print the application confirmation which should contain the Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.

Step 8: Visit Passport Seva Kenda PSK center
Visit Passport Seva Kenda on your booked appointment date along with your documents listed above.

How to track PCC online status ?

You can track your PCC online status by clicking the link Track PCC Status , then select the application type and fill your details such as file number and date of birth.

PCC appointment reschedule

Yes, you can easily reschedule a PCC online appointment. Follow the steps below:

  1. Visit the official Passport Seva Kendra Portal.
  2. Login with your credentials.
  3. Click on the ‘Schedule Appointment’ option under the ‘View Saved/Submitted Applications’ tab.
  4. Click the Reschedule appointment/Appointment cancellation tab. A confirmation message will be displayed indicating the number of reschedule/cancel attempts left.
  5. When the appointment has been rescheduled, select the desired Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and press Next.
  6. After reviewing the available appointment date displayed on the PSK, click the Book Appointment button. For the selected PSK, the appointment (if available) is automatically booked and the previously booked ARN appointment is automatically cancelled.
  7. The Appointment Confirmation screen is shown with the Print Application Receipt button. You can print your appointment confirmation receipt from here.

PCC processing time in India.

PCC processing time in India is normally 8 weeks. However, it depends on your police verification from your local police station. Police clearance can be issued only after the ‘Clear’ report from the police station in India.
